Audio Software
The most common problem associated with listening to audio files online is not having the proper software installed. Sound files in our archive are in MP3 format, and can be played by any of these popular, free programs:
Note: you MUST have one of these programs (or any other MP3 player) installed on your system in order to listen to our audio files. Each of the links above gives you access to a free version of the software, although most of these programs also have a paid version with additional features.

Streaming vs. Downloading
 When you "stream" an audio file, you listen to the audio as it is downloading to your computer. This means you will begin hearing the audio almost immediately after clicking the "Stream" the button. Note: very slow Internet connections may not be able to stream the audio continuously... in these cases, it is best to download the entire file before listening.
 In contrast, "downloading" a file forces you to save the entire file to your system before listening to it. This means you'll have to wait longer to hear the file... but the advantage is that you will have the file stored on your system for other uses (such as burning it to cd, keeping in your own library, etc). Note: some programs, such as Quicktime, will interupt normal browser functionality and not allow you to simply click the "Download" button to download a file. In this case, it's best to right-click on the file and choose "Save Target As" in order to download the file to your system.
Both Streaming and Downloading serve a particular purpose... if you simply want to hear the audio file once and right away, streaming is the way to go. If, however, you may want to listen to the file again (perhaps offline) you should download.
